Festival Rules

Mission

  

The mission of JSF is to provide valuable educational experiences for young actors through the preparation and performance of Shakespearean speeches and scenes. The JSF experience is intended to provide young actors with opportunities to perform, to receive constructive feedback from qualified judges and to participate in workshops from accomplished guest artists to further their understanding and appreciation of Shakespeare’s works.


Performance Guidelines


Performers will choose from pre-selected scenes and monologues (below). Students may be entered in a scene and a monologue. Scenes and monologues should be memorized and include blocking. Two chairs will be available. Performers will wear all black. No costumes or props are allowed.

Students will enjoy getting to work with professional Shakespeare actors in the workshop portion of the day.

Festival Pricing

The cost for the festival is $45 per student for their first entry and $15 for an additional entry (performing both duet and monologue). The price includes lunch. Students do not have to be connected to a school in order to register but must be in grades 9-12 for High School entries and 6-8 for Middle School.
